Learn moreMs. Amanda’s two decades of teaching experience have instilled in her a dedication to life-long learning which she passionately shares with her students. As an educator, it is her privilege to impact future generations with the gifts of knowledge, self-expression, and compassion. Her love of teaching is evident in her joyful interactions with her students.
Amanda holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood and Elementary Education as well as a Master of Education degree in Educational Development and Supervision. She is also certified to teach English as a Second Language. Amanda believes that writing inspires children to express, challenge, and refine their thought processes which paves the way for future success. She is devoted to making each child feel valued and encouraged while continuously moving towards mastery in writing and communication.
Dr. Dan Barber is a native of Massachusetts and graduated with Bachelor’s Degrees in Psychology and English from the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts (MCLA). Dr. Barber went on to complete his Masters Degree in Education at Tufts University in Boston; he earned his Ed. D. from Northeastern University. He moved to Charlotte in 2004 and taught in Charlotte-Mecklenburg schools for 11 years. Dr. Barber was an Instructional Facilitator at H.H. Beam for one year and has been an Assistant Principal and Principal for the last six years. He has six(!) daughters (ranging in age from 20 to 5). Dr. Barber was named Gaston County School's Assistant Principal of the Year for the 2018-2019 school year and is a finalist for the Gaston Gazette's Best Principal for the 2021-2022 school year. His hobbies include reading, biking, following the Boston Red Sox and, of course, spending time with his family. He is very excited to be a part of the Writing Symphony family!
